55th Bday Gift: An original play
It premieres at the end of September and I'd like to tell you about it NOW
Hello, fellow human being,
This is a rather unconventional post today as normally I write about inspired life moments, news, or things in the traditional format of a written article. Usually, something you’d hear me rant about on a walk (classic Boise-Babble), or forward in a video that wasn’t shared to social media, or in a public announcement to a group of friends at a party or dinner gathering in my home or on my lawn.
However, this one deserves a stand-alone message as it pertains to a landmark birthday I am having in 9 weeks to mark a very special time in my life.
Since I moved into my first home alone 13 years ago, I started using my birthday to release something artistic to share with my community. A brief rundown of life during that time:
2012: Hosted ConCon or Conscious Conversations in my living room for almost a year… where we discussed all the woo-woo things we Venice Beach artistic types are into. A real gathering of the Westside Weirdos as I affectionately refer to this collective of misfits and whack-a-doodles.
2013: A 3-hour one-man performance in front of 400+ in a theatre in DTLA... Some of you remember it (due to how blue it was, somehow we remain friends to this day… and thanks for having a sense of humor!)
2016 A live concert where I sang covers and original songs to +100 people on my lawn with a five-piece band.
2017 I biked from Holland to Germany across the countryside (that one I posted to social media sharing my love for riding a bike in the Netherlands… as combines two of my favorite things: Dutch life and being on a bike ride)
2018 I hosted a post Black Rock City burner here at my house in Venice where we read poetry, sang songs, celebrated life, and shared our intentions for the future
2019 - The Big Five-Oh (50th) 108 friends and family (including my nuclear family being together for the first time in over 13 years) gathered as I shared the contents of my soon-to-be-published works, told stories, sold original art, and entered this great new decade of life.
2020 Was the successful Kickstarter to publish How’s Your Heart? A User’s Guide for Building a Better Humanity.
2021 We celebrated the passing of my step Mom and I played the guitar she gifted me in quiet moments with my Dad and friends.
2022 saw the release of an Album to go with the book and had a group of friends over to chant and sing and rejoice in being alive in the Bhakti Flower Box (the new name given to my living room). Boise Thomas on Spotify
2022 BONUS TIME-RELEASE GIFT: I put myself back in college to get my Bachelor/Master/Doctoral Degrees in Meta Physics from UofSedona (Currently in progress… these things take time and the gift for my future 50-something-self would be to be the spiritual director of a center if that is what the universe wants of me, I am here for it…)
2023 A group of friends joined me to record a live album of chanting and prayer that is still in post-production but will see the light of day soon.
That brings us to 2024!
My 55th birthday.
A Fibonacci bday and my last if I don’t live is 89… and that’s okay with me.
As long as I live through the next several months and years to see where this newest creation takes me and my life.
This October 12, 2024… as I begin my 55th solar return… I will be in the middle of a theatrical run directing and producing a play I have written.
Here is the body of text that I will read to you in the voice-over version of this post you can listen to it if you choose and I will say a little bit more about it after.
Everyone knows the names Albert Einstein and Charlie Chaplin. Einstein is the world’s most famous scientist. Chaplin was an artist who revolutionized the world of film. But did you know that these two titans, not only knew each other but sat down for dinner one fateful night?
In doing my research I discovered great things about Einstein and Chaplin, including the fact that it was Elsa, Albert’s wife, who orchestrated their meeting.
I was so inspired by these three characters and the story’s relevance to today’s current events that I decided to write my first play about them.
It’s called E=MC2 and I’m also directing it. We’re doing 15 shows between (9/27-11/3/24) at the Electric Lodge Theater in Venice, California and I’m so excited for you to see it.
However, I don’t have the full financing yet and am looking for your contribution to raise (13k is the current minimum we are looking to raise to pay for the theatre rental before ticket sales begin next month). Check out my GoFundMe page for all the details, thank you for supporting live theater and…
And I look forward to seeing you at the Electric Lodge Theater for this fascinating and inspiring story, E=MC2

I have selected GoFundMe as the platform to come up with all the funds. It will launch next week on Tuesday, August 13th, 2024 with a proper video and page including the budget, where the money is going to be spent, and how you can contribute or share it with your theater and art-loving friends.
While I have produced, written, and directed stand-up comedy specials, music videos, short films, commercials, and other projects across the multi-media landscape, there is one genre I have never explored: LIVE THEATRE!
So here is today’s post and save the dates for the premiere of an original piece of work that is coming to the Electric Lodge Theatre in Venice at the end of September, running through the first weekend of November 2024!
Thank you for…
Reading (and subscribing/sharing) my Substack
Supporting the GoFundMe next week (sharing it or making a contribution)
Financing and Fueling live theatre in Los Angeles (as it is the step-child to the stages where I was made: The Great Empire State of New York)
Taking time to listen to / read my news as this will be the work of which I am the most proud in my creative life
May the sunshine of the spirit find your face and cast its glow on everyone you love…
